The Lotus Evija is the world's first all-electric Lotus hypercar and the most powerful car ever to enter series production. It makes 2,011 bhp from four motors, offers around 215 miles of range, and is limited to just 130 cars, hand-built at Lotus's Hethel HQ from a base price of around £2m. That mix of extreme power and rarity means an Evija has to be serviced by a Lotus specialist.
What is a hypercar?
A hypercar sits in the top 1% of performance cars, representing the peak of engineering, speed, price and rarity. Outputs often top 1,000 bhp, production runs are tiny, and prices frequently reach into the millions.

- Type 130: the standard Evija, named after its development code.
- Evija Fittipaldi: a strictly limited edition marking Emerson Fittipaldi's 1972 F1 title in the Lotus Type 72.
- Evija X: a radical one-off, track-only development car built to push aerodynamic and powertrain limits.
Key dates
Lotus revealed the Evija in July 2019, began assembly at Hethel in 2023, and started customer deliveries in 2024, with cars still being handed over.
How do you look after a Lotus Evija?
Because the Evija is so specialised, all major work needs a Lotus specialist: diagnostics, high-voltage battery health checks and mechanical inspections must go through official Lotus suppliers and certified technicians. Between visits you can still do a few basic checks yourself, including looking over the carbon-ceramic brakes for visible wear, watching the brake fluid level, and keeping an eye on tyre pressures and tread, since the Evija's power makes heavy demands of its tyres.
